Madeleine C. Brown
Founding lawyer


Madeleine founded MCB Legal Studio to harmonize her passion for advocacy with her interest in innovation and the arts. Madeleine practices commercial litigation and intellectual property law, with a focus on digital media and the creative industries.


Before she founded MCB, Madeleine practiced litigation at a leading full-service Canadian law firm and a commercial litigation boutique.


Madeleine’s family on her father’s side is Stó:lō, whose traditional territory is the Fraser River Valley in British Columbia. She is passionate about supporting Indigenous creatives and communities, with a particular interest in the protection of Indigenous traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expressions under Intellectual Property law.


Madeleine also regularly mentors Indigenous youth, and serves as a member of the Giiwedin Anang of Aboriginal Legal Services of Toronto, which facilitates an alternative dispute resolution process for Indigenous families embroiled in family law disputes.


Madeleine earned her. J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2017. She also holds a certificate in Intellectual Property Licensing, and a certificate in Entertainment Law, both from Osgoode PD. Madeleine was called to the Ontario Bar in 2018.
